Somatic Experiencing (SE™)
Somatic Experiencing (SE™) is a body-oriented therapeutic model applied in multiple professions and professional settings for healing trauma and other stress disorders. It is based on a multidisciplinary intersection of physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics and has been clinically applied for more than four decades. It is the life’s work of Dr. Peter A. Levine.
The SE approach releases traumatic shock, which is key to transforming PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma. It offers a framework to assess where a person is “stuck” in the fight, flight or freeze responses and provides clinical tools to resolve these fixated physiological states. Sessions may be done sitting or lying down, with touch or without, with movement or without, in person or remotely via telehealth.
Clients report feelings of expansion and transformation once they are freed from stuck states of high arousal, allowing them to move into stress-free aliveness and wholeness, re-engage with life, and achieve their highest potential.
For SE students: I am SE™ approved credit provider for personal sessions - all levels , Individual Case Consultation provider - Beginning level and Group Case Consultation Provider - Beginning Level. You can schedule at https://calendly.com/erod_somaticsessions/50min
Somatic Yoga Therapy
By definition from the International Association of Yoga Therapy (IAYT): “Yoga Therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the philosophy and practice of yoga”.
Somatic Yoga Therapy focuses on the awareness of the present moment and aims at facilitating a safe and gradual exploration of the different layers or “koshas” of the Self or Being: the physical body, the energy body, the emotional-mental body, the wisdom body and the blissful body. This holistic approach invites the client/practitioner to understand and become aware of how all the layers of the Self are affected when in pain, stressed out or processing a traumatic event; this self-awareness, in time, empowers the client to use different techniques to move to a state of wholeness.
A combination of physical poses and movement, breathing tools as well as relaxation and meditation techniques is tailored to the needs of each client.

Reiki and Energy Based Healing
Reiki is a Japanese healing technique that promotes wellness and transformation on all levels of being. Reiki is translated to mean universal life force energy and is administered by light touch, or by hovering just over the recipients’ body. Studies have shown that Reiki increases the white blood cell count giving a boost to the body’s immune system; and that Reiki eases depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, stress levels, and reduces pain in both chronic and acute conditions. When one receives Reiki their brain moves into an alpha state causing a deep relaxation, a state that is often hard to find in our busy western world. Reiki has also been credited with powerful emotional and spiritual transformations.
Not only can one receive a Reiki treatment but they can also become a channel for the Reiki energy through a process called an attunment. Becoming attuned to Reiki allows you to access and direct this life-force energy for yourself and others. The attunment also sparks a 21 day energetic cleansing period where deep healing and transformation is often experienced. Anyone who is interested has the ability to harness and utilize this energy for the good of all.
Reiki is a calming, meditative, hands on, Japanese healing art that promotes balance throughout the body. Benefits may include:
- Reduction in stress
- Deep relaxation
- Restful sleep
- Pain relief
- Clarity on specific issues
- Boosts the immune system
- Relief during emotional distress
Shamanic and Peruvian Healing Arts
Similar to yogic traditions which refer to the chakras, or energy centers- the Inkan indigenous tradition has a sophisticated understanding of the multidimensionality of the Self, and how life impacts our mental, physical, emotional and energetic well-being.
A session may include a cleansing and purification ceremony, a soul retrieval, an attunement to energy medicine, sound healing and andean ceremonies.
